It has been a couple of months since I wrote here and since I am a little incompacitated now I will try to add to my blog and catch up a little. I have a broken blood-vessel in my eye so it is a little hard to see but since I can't do anything to heavy I figured this is the time to catch up. It has been very eventful in the last couple of months. We did go to West Yellowstone for the snowmobile expo with Darwin and Norma and we had a ball. It was sooo cold and the snow was very deep but so freeing to fly in the wilderness with the trees dressed in white and the cold crisp air whizzing past. It seems like it was...."to go where no man had ever been." We went to the top of two-top mountain and could see 3 states from there. After a while on the snowmobile I was able to get up to 40 mph. Larry and Darwin are so good and it was fun to watch them manuver on their snowmobiles. We were gone most of the day one day. The weather got pretty bad the last couple of days but that didn't stop Darwin and Larry from going out on the snowmobiles.
While there we won tickets to the IMAX and we went to see a show on Lewis and Clark. Larry loves the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and so we are read about them as we travel. I have read about 10 books to Larry as he drives. I love to read and so we get our reading done while we travel.
We drove to Utah to Jared's and Tallon's Missionary Farewells and I was one proud Gramma to see these two following the other Grandsons on their missions. How happy Grandpa must be to see his wonderful grandsons serving their missions. It looks like Ashton will be the next one following with Austin and Fred, Stockton and Crew and then Ryde. It seems a long way off to you mothers but let me tell you the day that Calvin got his mission call I was stunned that he was nineteen and was ready for a mission. Time waits for no one and even Mothers cannot hold it back. They grow up and become men and women in the blink of an eye.
The first of April we had to go back to College Place, Oregan, for Larry's Mother in Law's funeral. We were so blessed to have had the opportunity for me to meet her before she died. She was a tiny little ball of energy. She was thrilled to show me her quilts and she even showed me a new way to make a quilt. Then she sent me more directions and even some examples she had made for me. I loved her instantly and also fell in love with Judy's adopted sister, Wendy. Judy was Larry's wife that died seven years ago. Anyway the funeral was very nice and there were many of Olive's quilts on display. It was wonderful to meet more of the family and spend time with them. We took the RV and stayed right in Olive's yard the time we were there. Justine and his little girl came back with us.
We had a lot to do when we got back from the funeral. We left on the 7th of April and flew to Texas. Patty, Larry's sist, drove us to the airport. We had a wonderful flight and had a rental car waiting for us at the airport in Texas. We had reservations at a motel and we spent the first day just looking around and Larry showed me some of the buildings he helped to build. He lived in San Antonio for many years and he was very familiar with the area. We spent a day and night with a very good friend of Larry's, They took us to dinner and gave us gifts before we left. I loved them both and tried to talk them into coming and staying with us for a few days. Very good people. We spent a couple of hours visiting another friend of Larry's at his place of busniness. He owns a Postal shop so we were able to visit with him inbetween customers. Then we drove up to Kerrville to stay with Jamie and Barry Fisher for a couple of nights. We went to Church with them and they took us to a very nice restaurant for dinner one night. It was a wonderful visit and thy treated us like family. There will always be a place in my heart for them as they are as close to being perfect as anyone I have ever met. We flew home on the 14th of April. I embroidered two dishtowels apiece for those that graciously let us stay overnight at their homes.
We have planted bushes and trees and flowers around the house and now it looks finished and beautiful. One of the trees has clusters of yellow flowers hanging from the limbs and it is so lovely. We have cleaned out the pond and we have permanent boarders. A momma and daddy duck and we think she will have some babies soon. I did plant another tree out by the side of Larry's workshop as the neighbor cut down a huge tree there and we need some shade there.
We went to Moab, Utah for the Jeep Rock Climbing Event. We took the RV and we just had so much fun. To see the Jeeps climbing those huge rocks is a phenominal experience. And then to be in Larry's Jeep and do it was so scary at first but after a while it was so fun. We have an older Jeep so we had to be lowered by straps a couple of places. But we did get through "Metal Masher" and went in another Jeep through "Steel Bender." There was one climb called the "Widow-Maker" and it was raining so hard only one guy tried it but because of the mud he could get up it. We were on top of the world where there was nothing but rock surface and it was raining and lightening so much that it got pretty scary. We Spent two whole days out rock climbing. Moab is quite the place and very expensive to go to. I was glad to have the RV to live in. We had a great time and I am looking forward to lots of Rock-climbing the next few years and especially the rest of the summer. If you want to see some pictures you can go on Idaho4X4.com and you will see Larry and coming down one set of rocks. I understand I even walk in front of the camera after that. Duh!
In June we met James half way and brought the three little ones home to be with us for a week. What a lot of fun to have the giggles and laughing and sibling rivalry and children crying and fighting and all that goes with having little ones in your home. We had so much fun and it was so delightful for me to watch as Larry interacted with the kids and how they fell in Love with him. Ryde especially brought smiles to us and how much fun it was to kiss little cheeks and hug that little body. He is a most precious little guy. I know how much comfort he brings to Jill now. It was so wonderful to wake up to him every morning. We took the kids to the zoo for Crew's fifth birthday and then we had a nija turtle cake and ice cream. It really was a kick to have a kid's birthday party again. We took the kids camping close to where James will pick them up on Sunday. We got to park the RV right by the playground and the first day we were there Skylar and Crew could not be bothered to come back to the RV. They had so much fun and one of the owners of the RV Park had a little boat connected to the vehicle that they drove around the park and they stopped and picked up Skylar and Crew and cruised around the park. We were right next to the Snake river and the setting was just beautiful. This was our second visit there and we will go back again.
Well, I need to fix lunch for Larry and I am about at the end of the last two months adventures. We have company coming for the week next week. Russell and Erin will be here for Malcom's HS Graduation and I am excited to see them again. Rodney was here to visit last night and telling us all about Luke's baseball games. We have attend several and will go to more before we leave for Oregan. Russell and Rodney are Larry's sons. They are such great kids and are very handsome as well. I have enjoyed being with them and the rest of Larry's family. There is so much Love here and we are all really living life. I am so blessed to be with Larry and when the Bishop asked us the other night if we had had our first fight we both said no and we don't plan on having one. Larry is one of the most peaceful and good men I have ever known. We just have so much fun together and he even talks to me. He is full of so much information and knowledge that it is great to have a life together.
