Busy Summer

Visitors, baseball, travel and yardwork. It has been a busy summer so far and doesn't look to settle down. Connie and Larry Parks came and spent a night with us. We went to dinner at Kahoots and it was a wonderful meal. It was so nice to have some of my friends come and see where we live. Just to sit and talk was a real treat. They were on their way to a family reunion in Eugene, Ore.

We have been too many of Luke's baseball games. It has been so much fun to see how good these High School kids are. Larry and I really enjoyed being there. We were able to attend the Weiser Fiddlers contest. It was also amazing. Norma and Darwin went with us and we really did enjoy the music. Some of the kids were so young and very very talented. We also went to Norma's for a birthday party for all of those in the crowd that Larry has known since High School. We had a great time and those of us who had birthday's in June got a card from each couple there. The idea is to give the funniest card you can find. Of course, I was the dork and didn't know that. I am going to have the best ones next time.

Shelley and I met in Reno this last weekend and had a wonderful time. We rented a condo and it was beautiful. We each had our own rooms and bathrooms. We did a lot of shopping, (duh) and ate good food. We had pedicures and manicures and also the day we left we had Swedish massages in the morning. I had a 5 hour wait for Shelley until she came in. The Reno airport is boring. When we left our gates were B3 and B1 and her plane left an hour and a half before mine so I stood in line with her until she had to board. We are making this a yearly get together now. The funny thing was that when I took off after her I landed and called her as I was going to the baggage claim and she was also doing the same. My flights were direct and Shelley had to stop before getting home.

Larry had come in to get me and was sitting waiting for me when I got downstairs. It was so good to see him. He really missed me and it was great to be home again.

We have been working on the pond in back and we finally got it running so great. It is like a little brook and sounds so nice. I have been pulling out roots from the big tree that shades the pond and it is going to take at least another whole day. It is nice to work together every day.

When I was pulling weeds out front yesterday I dug up a walnut and it had started to grow a tree. We have a walnut tree and two acorn trees. Anyway, I planted the walmut and it looks like it might make it. The squirrels are best friends with us. They get the nuts before we get a chance. I guess they like them green.

Our neighbor came and told us to go pick apricots as they are ready. They have given us cherries and I have made jelly our of them and given most of the jelly away. So it looks like we will be picking apricots soon and I will be bottling them. I probably will make some jam.

I have been sewing and just finished the cutest dress for Skylar's birthday. It really turned out nice and she will look so cute in it. Shelley and I had fun getting a box ready for the kids while we were in Reno. We went to a Gap outlet and had a ball, then we went to the UPS store and sent it. Jill called today and said she had gotten it. I also have made a baby quilt for one of Larry's granddaughters new baby and I made a cute pink one for my niece. I also will finish a blessing dress for my niece baby girl. I have gotten the urge to sew and that doesn't happen a lot. I am going to take a machine when we leave for the winter and get started on a couple of quilts for some of my grandchildren. We will leave the first of January and be gone until March or April.

The tomatoes we planted have been so good. I eat some cherry tomatoes almost every day right out of the garden. Next year I want to plant more. But with such good neighbors I have all the fruit I want.

Well, Larry is back from the store and we are putting up one of my stained glass chandelers in the kitchen. We just had the blacktop on the driveway sealed and it looks like it is new.

We will be leaving for Yellow Pine for a Harmonica Fest and staying there for 5 or 6 days. Larry used to live in Yellow Pine and he has been anxious to take me there. We are also going to gather some flat rocks to finish going around the pond.
